Pets and their owners are invited to join the buccaneer crew and show their “piratitude” during the Pirate Pet Costume Parade at the Damariscotta River Pirate Rendezvous coming to the in-town areas of Damariscotta and Newcastle on Sat., June 11.
The Pirate Pet Costume Parade is sponsored by Louis Doe’s Pet Center and will feature prizes for Most Piratical, Cutest, and Most Original. The prizes will be gift certificates for Louis Doe’s Pet Center.
Pet owners should ensure that they come equipped to clean up any little “treasures” their pets may leave while attending the event.

The rather small size of this pooch had no effect on the size of his “piratitude” at the 2010 Pirate Rendezvous. The dog is owned by Walter Hilton of Damariscotta. This year the Pirate Rendezvous on Sat., June 11 features a Pirate Pet Costume Parade sponsored by Louis Doe’s Pet Center. Keeping in the piratical spirit of the event, contestants will be able to enter the Pirate Pet Costume Parade for whatever Admission Contribution amount they feel is appropriate.
“Our admission policy for all of the activities at the Pirate Rendezvous is simple, in for a penny or a pound,” said the pirate “Scribe” (Greg Latimer), Commodore of the Pirate Rendezvous. “The Pirate Rendezvous benefits the Lincoln County Family Holiday Wishes food and gift drive, and we want families and everybody else to participate at a level that is affordable for them.”
The Pirate Pet Costume Parade is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on June 11 at the Pirate Bazaar located at Schooner Landing Restaurant and Marina on Main St., Damariscotta. Look for the sign-up table.
